Black Joy Always
The Heart of Our Vision
It began with a simple, honest realization between two friends: there weren’t enough spaces in their community where Black joy could truly live, breathe, and be celebrated without limits. Instead of waiting for that space to appear, they chose to create it. With courage, intention, and their own resources, they brought the first Celebration of Joy: Black Joy for women to life—an offering rooted in love, culture, and connection.
What unfolded was more than an event; it was a powerful, affirming experience. As the day came to a close, women lingered, already asking, “When is the next one?”—a clear sign that something meaningful had been sparked.
A year later, that spark grew into a movement. The second annual celebration expanded with the support of community members and grant funding, deepening its impact and reach. What started as a shared vision between two friends began to transform into a collective mission.
Looking ahead, that vision shines even brighter. Together with community leaders, they established a nonprofit to sustain and grow the work, pursuing new opportunities to bring the dream fully to life by 2027.
As the flagship experience in Santa Rosa continues to flourish, the vision stretches far beyond—carrying the promise of Black joy into cities everywhere. And soon, that celebration may be coming to a community just like yours.
Our story is one of resilience and celebration. We are a collective of families and individuals who have chosen to build a legacy of positivity. We invite you to join us as we continue to grow, innovate, and celebrate the vibrant spirit of Black joy together.
